The Ideal Candidate

The ideal person for this role is intuitive and engaging, with a genuine interest in building real relationships with our dental and medical clients, and delivering a unique and wonderful experience to them.

The Associate Lawyer is a natural leader with a passion for people and the drive to go above and beyond our client’s needs, making them feel comfortable and appreciated throughout the lease negotiation process. They are committed to doing their best in everything they do, are generous with their knowledge and skills, and operate with integrity, executing tasks with the highest quality of standards and a smile.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze client commercial leasing requirements as they relate to the successful operation and long term stability of the client’s healthcare practice.
  • Prepare and negotiate Letters of Intent, Offers to Lease and Lease documents as required, focusing on critical dates, breakdown provisions and key clauses.
  • Negotiate with all stakeholders with the goal of delivering a win-win for both the client/tenant and landlord.
  • Proactively communicate with the client and develop and maintain a trusted relationship throughout the process.
  • Diligently log and update all related activities and file status changes in the CRM system throughout the lifespan of the file.
  • Overcome risks and obstacles encountered in the process by demonstrating the ability to proactively manage these challenges.
  • Demonstrate a consistent record of managing the process in order to meet target file completion metrics.
  • Assist other team members and strategic partners to ensure the delivery of results of the highest standard.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years working experience in the legal industry.
  • Customer-service oriented with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A sense of urgency to get things done with strong persuasion skills.
  • Ability to be professional with all stakeholders in the process in order to deliver win-win solutions.
  • Powerful communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and complete multiple projects simultaneously, and under pressure with attention to detail, and a proactive project management approach.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Excellent academic credentials with an LLB or JD.
  • Membership of the Law Society of Upper Canada in good standing.
  • Experience in corporate commercial law, real estate.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, oral advocacy, and client services skills.
  • Ability to handle competing deadlines on tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in direct client services and in-firm supported marketing initiatives.
